In the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 7th, all of Hollywood will be tuning in for the official announcement of 2022's Oscar Nominees. Guessing where this new-look Academy will go with their picks has become an annual exercise in futility, but one that cinephiles such as I and my guest contributor, Greg Rouleau, look forward to each and every year. While our official predictions for all of the Oscars' major categories are listed below, you will see a small difference in opinion between the two of us. While I'm sticking to my guns with many of the early frontrunners of the awards season, Greg is sensing a sizable shift for two specific films, Joel Coen's
The Tragedy of Macbeth and Adam McKay's Netflix satire
Don't Look Up. No matter which way the Academy goes, Greg and I can both agree that Sean Baker's
Red Rocket is destined to be a criminal Oscar omission that should be seen by all.
And before I get to the official predictions below, please remember to sign up for our FREE Oscar Pool which will be set up before the week's end. The winner will receive $50 in movie theater gift cards, so make sure you're registered. Finally, please check out Greg Rouleau's wonderfully edited
Top 10 Films of 2021 video. It's a wonderful recap of the year's best work set to a perfect revolving soundtrack, enjoy! Here are our final set of Oscar Nomination predictions:
